Rigging materials are used to attach a load to a lifting device and pass load forces through the lifting system. The approved lift plan, the lifting method, the load, the points of lifting and the working environment dictate the type of sling, shackle, wire rope, chain, hook or master link to be used. Products can be very alike, but come with varying capacities, grades, dimensions and uses.
Best International Contracting Company helps customers who are looking for a lifting slings supplier, for their industrial and construction projects in Saudi Arabia, with a defined requirement of materials. We supply the right web slings, wire-rope, lifting chains, shackles, hooks, master links and other rigging hardware for projects, workshops, maintenance, marine and material handling applications.
Reviews all enquiries according to the product description, required working load limit, length, configuration, material grade, end fittings, applicable standard, inspection or test documents, quantity and delivery location. The customer/competent lifting authority is responsible for the lift design, selection of equipment, compatibility and approval before use.
A request for a lifting sling is usually not the only thing needed to make an accurate supply request. The enquiry should include the following details: The type of product required, how it will be connected, its working load limit, its effective length, number of legs, end fitting, load characteristics, operating environment. Chemical exposure, sharp edges, heat, abrasion, sea water and restricted headroom may affect product selection.
Saudi Arabia contractors can call BIC with their project requirement and BIC will facilitate the commercial and technical information to quote the project. If critical information is not provided, we describe that information, but do not make assumptions about capacity and/or configuration.
Receiving, inspection, storing and using supplied rigging materials should be done through the customer’s approved system of lifting control. Product supply is no substitute for competent rigger and lifting supervisor, lifting plan, equipment inspection or a site permit.
Webbing Slings
Flat web slings are versatile and are lighter in weight than some metal sling types and can allow for a greater load bearing surface. Must have eye to eye or endless or as approved with the required working load limit, effective length, width, eye construction and protective sleeves.
The use of colour must not be the sole means of determining a person’s capacity. Product tag, manufacturer information and approved records should be checked before using. Outside of the stated suitability of the product, slings should be protected from cutting, abrasion, heat and chemicals.
Round Slings
Round slings can be used to attach load-bearing fibres in a protective outer cover and are chosen for appropriateness for lifting systems. The capacity, effective working length, configuration and where necessary protective covering should be defined by the enquiry.
If there is damage to the outer cover, it can be a sign that the inner fibres are damaged as well. Do not repair the damaged material or use it without permission—do not proceed with the removal from service unless the approved inspection and removal from service criteria are followed.
Steel Wire Rope and Wire-Rope Slings
Some of the wire-rope requirements can be comprised of general steel wire rope, single-leg slings, multi-leg assemblies, thimbles, ferrules, and/or sockets or other terminations. The selection for construction, diameter, core, lay, grade, end termination, length and required capacity.
For lifting, pulling and project applications, our steel wire rope supplier service in Saudi Arabia can review the suitable enquiries for the project if the entire specification is provided. A general purpose rope cannot be used in place of wire rope which would be used for lifting.
Lifting Chains and Chain Slings
Lifting chains can be furnished in chain lengths or sling assemblies which can consist of master links, connecting links, hooks and other approved components. The chain grade, size, leg configuration, working length and end fittings should be specified.
Both a lifting chains supplier KSA projects approach should be taken into consideration when dealing with the complete assembly requirement, as it does not affect the rating of the completed sling. Different grades or incompatible fittings must not be used together.
Shackles
Bow shackles and dee shackles can be provided with screw pins or safety bolts or a suitable arrangement of pins. The selection of the proper piece depends on the direction of the load, number of connections, travel, pin security and strength needed.
The enquiry should define the type of shackle, working load limit, body and pin size and shape, finish, quantity and documentation. Side loading or multi-directional loading is only to be considered if permitted by the manufacturer, and approved lifting arrangement.
Hooks, Master Links and Connecting Components
Sling hooks, self-locking hooks, foundry hooks, grab hooks, master links, sub-assemblies, connecting links, swivels or other approved parts may be needed for rigging assemblies. All fittings must be suitable for the type of sling, grade, size and capacity needed.
Unless the product is specifically designed and rated, latches and locking mechanisms are not intended to be used as a load-bearing mechanism. The entire system of lifts should be checked as a whole.
Protective and Supporting Rigging Items
Slings and other items including corner guards, thimbles, ferrules and sockets, wire-rope clips and turnbuckles may also be requested depending on the approved requirement. They are applicable based on the application and assembly design.
No temporary modification, knots, welding or unauthorised modification of the lifting capacity or configuration should be used to modify lifting materials.
Service boundary: The supply of rigging consumables and lifting accessories are covered on this page. Equipment Rental involves cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, manlifts and other lifting machines. The manpower services for operators, riggers and lifting supervisors are covered. The lifting process will not be included without the separate contract.
KSA service is the supplier of our slings and shackles, which service for individual items and coordinated material packages for construction, industrial maintenance, shutdowns, workshop, warehouses and suitable marine environment. Each line item in a package could consist of more than one capacity, length and type of connection, so a line item description is important.
If more than one item is required, the customer is responsible for coming up with a schedule that specifies the following: Product, Capacity, Dimensions, Configuration, Quantity and Documentation for each item. If dissimilar items are grouped together under a generic term then it can result in assumptions being made which can only result in delayed approval.
Any specific project approval, marking system or manufacturer must be mentioned before sourcing. Any alternative that is proposed should be identified for written customer review before supplied.
Web slings and other rigging items are necessary for construction, plant maintenance, shutdowns, fabrication yards, warehouses and material-handling activities in the projects located in Jubail. Jubail Web sling service can help you with the appropriate enquiry depending on availability of product and complete specifications of the project and its acceptance criteria.
The customer should determine the required working load limit of the slings, type of sling, effective sling length, eye configuration, number of sling units and edge or surface protection requirements. The lifting method and points should be checked by the competent lifting team in the project.
Requirements for the locations of Dammam, Khobar and other locations in Eastern Province can also be seen. It takes time for delivery according to the product configuration, quantity, documents, inspection and transport plans.
The working load limit indicated for a product is under specific conditions. Various sling configurations, number of legs, sling angle, length of the sling, size of connection, load distribution, temperature and other factors can all affect capacity. The value for a single-leg lift doesn’t necessarily apply to all lifting situations.
Multi-leg slings must be identified with the number of legs, master-link arrangement, lower end fittings, effective length and rated capacity within the specified range of angles. The load being placed on each leg should be determined by the lift planner or competent person to determine the appropriate assembly.
BIC is a supplier of products against the approved description. Lifting loads and sling angles are not calculated nor are they approved as part of a material order unless an additional engineering service has been specifically agreed.
Different types and grades of chains, links, hook and shackles and wire-rope fittings are produced. Not all components that are physically attached are compatible and/or rated as one assembly. Fittings selected should be compatible with the product system and manufacturer’s specifications.
The customer shall give the following details about the existing assembly for replacement components: assembly details, grade, dimensions, product marking, required capacity. Using a different, but similar fitting, can lower the rating or result in an unapproved combination.
Slings which are also complete factory assembled (also with a rated and documented assembly) could be recommended in cases where the project involves a rated and documented assembly. The site assembly procedure should be followed and must be done by competent personnel and with compatible components for any site assembly.
Documentation that might be required could consist of certificates of manufacture, declarations, test records, inspection records, technical data, batch information, identification tags and packing documents. At enquiry stage the customer needs to provide the list of documents that he/she requires.
Identification markings must be able to be read during the entire period of product service. If no tag is present, the tag is not readable or it does not correspond with the records, the item should be controlled via it’s inspection process by the customer prior to use.
The availability of documentation will depend on product and manufacturer. So, the certificate and inspection arrangements should be confirmed, rather than requested after dispatching, as required.
Upon delivery, new rigging materials should be checked for details as per the purchase order, quantity, capacity, dimensionality, tags, and visible conditions and documentation. This is a receiving check that is in addition to the user’s pre-use inspection and periodic inspection programme.
Items with cuts, broken wires, excessive wear and tear, heat damage, chemical attack, cracks, deformations, stretched links, damaged threads, missing pins or illegible identification should be isolated and evaluated according to the approved procedure.
Inspection frequency and rejection are largely dependent on the product, manufacturer instructions, standard applicable and environment and intensity of use. The customer is responsible for keeping an appropriate register and inspection system.
Synthetic slings may be cut by sharp edges and wire ropes or chains may be damaged. These issues of edge radius, contact points and appropriate protection should be included in the lift plan. The hazard/sling combination should include a sleeve or corner protector which is applicable to the hazard and not be taken for granted to increase the sling capacity.
Synthetic fibres, coatings, lubricant and metal parts may be affected by changes in temperature and chemicals. If temperatures, acids, alkalis, solvents or molten material or other aggressive conditions are likely to exist in the operating environment, it should be disclosed prior to ordering.
Corrosion, storage and cleaning may be issues for outdoor/ marine use. If a special finish or requirement of the material is desired it should be part of the enquiry.
Packing rigging materials should take care to avoid damage to tags, threads, pins, hooks, and protective surfaces during transport, and also to be packed so as to avoid damage to the rope terminations. Packages may be multi-item, and will be separately labelled by capacity, length, product type or by area of the project.
The storage of slings and parts should be in a clean, dry and controlled area away from welding sparks, sharp edges, chemicals, standing water, direct heat and vehicle traffic at the site. Pilings or dragging of products should be avoided as this can damage products.
Heavy chain assemblies, wire rope slings and large shackles – may need appropriate offloading arrangements. Before dispatching, the receiving party must confirm access, unloading responsibility, delivery time before.
