Head Protection
Safety helmets, bump caps, chin straps, sweatbands and accessories that attach to the helmet may be required for head protection. The customer needs to specify the environment, electrical details (if applicable), necessary suspension, colour coding and accessory compatibility.
Never combine helmet shells, harnesses and accessories unless the manufacturers have been notified of compatibility. The site safety programme should be used to monitor the age, condition and replacement of products.
Eye and Face Protection
When using the machine for work that may involve impact, dust, splashes, grinding, cutting, welding or handling chemicals, safety spectacles, goggles, face shields and special lenses may be necessary. The enquiry should describe how the product is being exposed and if there will be a helmet used, a helmet, respirator or prescription eyewear worn.
Face shield is not a substitute for primary eye protection. The whole of the combination should be chosen based on the approved task assessment.
Hearing Protection
Use of earplugs, banded plugs and earmuffs might be needed in places where noise exposure controls involve the use of hearing protection. The site should specify the expected level of attenuation, wearing time, hygienic requirements and helmet/other equipment compatibility.

Respiratory Protective Products
Filters, cartridges or masks may be required for dust, vapour/gas or combination hazards – these masks are all reusable respirators. Disposable masks and/or reusable respirators with filters and cartridges may be requested for dust, vapour, gas or combined hazards. Selection should be by a competent party and the contaminant, concentration, oxygen and work duration and product limitations should be considered.
The respiratory products need to be properly sized, compatible and controlled by the user. The supply of a respirator should not be a substitute for the medical evaluation, fit testing, clean-shaven, and/or cartridge-change planning and training the respirator wearer is required to undergo.
Hand and Arm Protection
Gloves can be used for general protection, cut resistance, chemicals resistance, heat resistance, welding gloves, electrical gloves or single-use gloves. The customer should specify the task, material involved, chemical (if applicable), dexterity needed, cuff length and range of cuff sizes.
One type glove that may be effective for one hazard might not be effective for another. Product data and compatibility information should be taken on board prior to approval.
Shoes, clothing and bright-colored gear
Safety footwear, coveralls, chemical garments, one offs, rainwear and high-visibility clothing can be procured to meet the requirements of the project. The range of sizes, the type of material, the type of closure, visibility and antistatic or flame requirements and working conditions should be clearly stated.
The protective clothing should be suitable for gloves, footwear, helmets, harnesses and respirators to be worn for the same activity. If special protection is required then the following should be provided in the approved technical specification:
Fall-Protection PPE and Accessories
Full harnesses, energy absorbing lanyards, positioning lanyards, connectors, temporary lanyard components and compatible storage bags are all examples of requirements. Lockout tagout products are designed to be used to isolate controlled electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other hazardous energy sources. The equipment and isolation points should be visited by the responsible customer team, to ensure that the appropriate devices are identified.

Written isolation procedure should be incorporated into product list. Giving locks and tags does not ensure the procedure is in place and does not authorize employees and does not ensure that all energy sources have been isolated.
Spill-control products may consist of oil-only absorbent kits, chemical or universal absorbent pads, rolls, pillows, booms, disposal bags and containers to go with them. Selection will be based on the nature of the liquid, volume of the spill, site of work, drainage risk and method of disposal.
The customer shall supply information on the fluid or chemical and to provide the appropriate safety data as required. Some absorbent products are designed to absorb only certain liquids, while others can absorb a wide range of liquids. There are also materials and emergency response procedures for chemical spills that require special expertise.
The application of Kits can be considered for workshops, warehouses, fuel-handling areas, vehicles, plants and project sites. The supply plan should include the location, container type, supply requirements and inspection responsibilities.
Caution tape, barrier tape, cones, delineators, warning signs, floor markings, tags, inspection labels, barricade accessories, disposable protective items, eyewash consumables and any approved consumables on the site can be used as a day-to-day safety material.
